BSU Council

Anna Smith, President

Hello! I'm Anna Smith, I'm a sophomore from Mooresville, NC. I am President of BSU and I am dedicated to fostering a welcoming community for spiritual growth and community service. My academic passion lies in Health and Exercise Science, with a Biology minor, as I'm fascinated by the connection between human health and biology. Looking forward to growing personally and academically while making meaningful connections. Feel free to reach out—I'd love to connect!

Abby Laursen, Public Relations Coordinator

Hi everyone! I'm Abby Laursen, a sophomore from Ocean City, NJ. Other than BSU, I love spending time with friends, listening to country music, playing with my dogs, and going shopping. Looking forward to a fun year with BSU and meeting new people!

Lord Walker Wilkins, Fellowship Coordinator

Hi, I'm Walker.  I'm a freshman mechanical engineering major from Fayetteville, NC.  I enjoy camping, reading, and playing music.  Our Lamb has conquered; let us follow him.

Madie Keller, Public Relations Coordinator

My disdain for writing website bios comes from deep seated pain involving Ludite web designers. I’m not even certain I knew we had this website. I’ve never been to it. I don’t think anyone even told me about it. I am the PR Coordinator though. I’m in charge of our instagram, twitter, and Facebook accounts as well as our BSU website.

Thomas Long, Amazon Reviewer

I would give this seller zero stars if I could, but one is the minimum number that the website allows. I ordered a baking pan from this company in the shape of Wyoming to go with my baking pan in the shape of Colorado.  When I opened the box, I was shocked to find that the pan was dented. It looks like someone had dropped it on one corner. I just couldn’t believe the state the pan was in. **Edit** So it turns out that it wasn’t a dented Wyoming pan. I had mistakenly ordered a pan in the shape of Kansas, which looks like a dented Colorado pan. So the state of pan was Kansas, which I could believe.  Plus, I'll let Chris know when I've seen my bio. **Edit** Saw the bio, I think it’s pretty good though could be a bit more detailed really makes it crazy. **Edit** Well, Ethan and Walker decided to cook for the weekly BSU Horizons meeting. So I decided to let them cook on top of the stove using the Kansas shaped pan. The directions on the box said that the first step was to grease the bottom of the pan. The fire marshall told us that it meant the bottom of the 'inside' of the pan. **Edit** Chris thought the joke was funny. **Edit** Actually, I am the most interesting man at Wake Forest. I don’t often write website bios, but when I do, I get Chris to write the bio and then deal with the results. I’m the 2024-25 Worship Coordinator for the BSU and am also in student government. I’m a sophomore from the small town of Repeated Memes, which is one of the oldest towns in North Carolina. One fun fact about Repeated Memes is that it is where Abraham Lincoln created the internet. After undergrad, I’m off to medical school.

Alyssa Soltren, Secretary Treasurer

Hello, everyone! I'm Alyssa, a senior from Fayetteville, NC. I'm a pre-med with a major in Psychology while double minoring in Neuroscience and Chemistry. Evidently, I'm really interested in working in the medical field. However, I also love to enjoy and create good stories. I'm always down to discuss media that I've read or seen, or find out about new ones. Other things I do to entertain myself are playing video games, practicing on my flute, observing nature, vibing to music, doting on my three cats, and discussing scientific theories. I like to think of myself as a well-rounded nerd. I can't wait to see my friends and meet new people in BSU this year!

P.S. If you want to ask about my amazing semester abroad in London, please let me know- I still can't stop thinking about it. And look into studying abroad yourself, too!

Eleanor McPhatter, Worship Coordinator

Hey, everybody. My name is Eleanor. My favorite hobby is writing bios for websites. I like to sing. You may have seen me in the movie Pitch Perfect. I mean, I'm not in that movie, but it is a cool movie, and I'm not going to give you a hard time about seeing me in the movie even though I'm not in it. Now, some people will say, look, you're either in the movie or not. But to those people I say "Two things can be true."

Ethan Elvander, Crooner and Missions Coordinator

I asked my friend Thomas what I’m doing here. Thomas replied that many great scientists, philosophers, theologians, and other deep thinkers have wrestled with the question of “Why am I here?”. I responded, no, why am I on the BSU leadership page? I'm not on BSU council. And who put that photo there? That's a photo of me from the Chi Rho concert, featuring Minor Variations. Thomas told me that I might be on council and not know it. I guess I'll go to leadership meetings and see if I can figure out if I'm on council or not. Thomas did ask me to cook for BSU on Tuesday night.

???, New Student Representative

Hey everyone, I'm new to Wake!
